Just got a message from Julie on my cell phone. This is what it says:
“Being prepped for emerg. C-Sec – severe HELLP. Pls tell Internet”
Sent about an hour ago at 04:48 my time, which is about 10pm EST.
Here is something on HELLP.
Girls, please send your collective thoughts to Julie, Paul and Batman. I know Bat will fine, Bat is a big baby already. But it must be damn scary for Julie and Paul.
I just can’t believe this is happening, I burst into tears when I got the message.
I will keep you updated as I hear news. I’ve asked that Paul lets me know me what is happening.
Please girls, prayers, thoughts, good vibes etc – send them on strong to Julie.
I love you Julie, so very very much.
OMG! I am sending my best thoughts and prayers for her. Please, please, please let us know how she and Paul and Batman are doing!

Julie, my thoughts are with you and Batman. I had one of the most severe cases of HELLP you can get (my liver ruptured, i had 2 surgeries in addition to my c-section; I needed more than 25 pints of blood, and the worst -- i didn't see my baby for almost a week while i was in the ICU). Two and half years later, my daughter and I are happy and healthy. I know you will be, too.

Ok, just for the record, I noticed this in the reading:
"The pathogenesis of HELLP syndrome is not well understood.....To date, no common precipitating factor has been found."
Well, that just about sums up all the crappy stuff that Julie has had to go through this pregnancy, don't you think?
Will be thinking about Julie as she recovers from her c-section, and hoping that it is uneventful (& um, world if you are listening, I think you could leave Julie alone now and let her be done with the crappy stuff she's been through in this pregnancy, k?) and she is home with Batman & Paul soon.

Holy Crap! Should've kept reading!
"HELLP syndrome occurs in approximately 0.2 to 0.6 percent of all pregnancies. In comparison, preeclampsia occurs in 5 to 7 percent of pregnancies."
Just like Julie to wind up with something like this.
Damn, that is effing unbelievable.
